Road traffic markings are traffic facilities consisting of various lines, arrows, text, patterns, vertical markings, solid markings, raised pavement markers, and delineators painted or installed on roads. Their function is to convey information such as road traffic rules, warnings, and guidance to road users.

Road traffic markings can be divided into three categories according to their function: directional markings, prohibitory markings, and warning markings. Directional markings indicate carriageways, driving directions, road edges, sidewalks, parking spaces, stops, and speed bumps. Prohibitory markings publicize special regulations that prohibit or restrict road traffic. Warning markings help road users understand special road conditions and increase their vigilance.

Road traffic markings are typically white, yellow, blue, or orange.

Road signs are also known as road traffic markings or road markings; the English equivalents include road markings, lane markings, and carriageway markings.
